I am a Senior Fellow at the RIPIL public policy lab at American University, and advise practitioner organizations working on peace and conflict. I am an adviser to PAX sapiens and Search for Common Ground, and a board member of the ITSCI conflict minerals program.

My work focuses on peace processes, U.S. foreign policy, and the tech, energy and minerals industries. I have worked in 25 countries, including Central Africa, the Sahel, Sudan, Middle East and Venezuela.

I regularly speak to academic and policy audiences and have appeared as a guest and expert in major outlets that include the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, New Yorker, Foreign Policy, BBC World Service, France24 (France), CCTV (China), Al Jazeera English.
